for the Repairing and Coaling Yard for Government Launches com- -municated in my Despatch No. 237 of 21st. June and approved in 2 your telegram of 17th. July, 1912, is due to the fact that it was
found necessary to carry out a small portion of the work in con- -nection with the Reclamation opposite Kowloon Marine Lots 29-31 Yaumati (Item 41). It was understood at the time my Despatch was written that the Wharf and Godown Company would require to obtain possession of the Police Camber by 16th. June, 1914, but it was subsequently agreed that the Government should retain it for a
year longer. It has not therefore been necessary to undertake the
work sooner.
NEW TERRITORIES.
Buildings.
Provision amounting to £10,000 has been made for the
commencement of a new Police Station at Lok Ma Chau to the North-
-East of Santin where the Police have hitherto been accommodated
in a native house. In this connection I would refer you to Sir 21327 Henry May's Despatch No. 193 of 2nd. June, 1913, transmitting
Financial Linute 25. It has not been possible to undertake the construction of the Market at Tai 0 during the current year and
last year's estimate is therefore repeated. A sum of $6,000 is
included for an addition to the Taipo Quarters to provide accommoda- -tion for the Land Bailiff in the New Territories, the quarters in
the Police Station now occupied by him being required to house
extra Police.
Miscellaneous.
A sum of $4,500 has been inserted for erecting protective
fences around the Police Stations, 1,500 for carrying out a small
reclamation at Tai 0 to form a site for the proposed market and
84,000 for the construction of a boathouse and slipway for the
protection of the boats used in connection with Police and Harbour
work.
Plans of works 10 and 13 are enclosed. Plans of 49 and 51 have not
